Struggles with keeping up with the family legacy...It must have been tough for Ren to carry all that pressure while finding one's voice.
This was a nice spotlight episode for Ren as it shows how he resists and eventually accepts the help offered to him to solve the problem. I like how the pacing here just throws in a bunch of obstacles for Ren to overcome without sacrificing small personal details about him.
We get a two in one deal. Even tho I said in my previous review we didn't get much from hijirikawa, we get his flashback doubled with Jinguji Ren in this episode. I think this sole episode might bump Jinguji Ren up the pole of my favorite character in this series, but Otoya is definitely still running in first. It's sad and bitter, seeing Ren's flashback, and for him to find a way to pour it into his lyrics, as Haruka said, made me feel like I wanted to root for him.
