Umayuru: Pretty Gray
Oshimeter
Synopsis
Imagine a crew of ashen-haired horse girls running a takoyaki stand who accidentally invent fusion street food. That's the energy of Umayuru: Pretty Gray, a 4-episode ONA spin-off set in the Umamusume: Pretty Derby universe. If you've spent any time with that franchise, you already know the deal — anthropomorphic horse girls doing everything except actual horse things — but this time the spotlight lands specifically on the ashen-haired members of the cast. Tamamo Cross and Oguri Cap are trying to sell takoyaki at a school festival when Gold Ship and Mejiro McQueen set up a rival yakisoba booth right next door, and the competitive escalation somehow ends with them combining their dishes into "takoyakisoba." The second episode pivots to Seiun Sky and King Halo playing detective in a village mystery that turns out to be way less sinister than they think. Each episode is short, so the whole thing is basically a lunch break watch. The vibe is pure low-stakes comedy — no training arcs, no races, just characters you might already like goofing around in silly scenarios. If you enjoyed UmaYon or the chibi humor of Puchimas, this fits right in that same pocket of franchise side content that exists purely to make you smile. Studio Scooter Films keeps it simple and charming. It's not trying to be anything more than a fun hangout, and that's exactly what works about it.
