Synopsis
The "Uchuu Senkan Yamato" pilot film was originally produced in August 1974. Its purpose was to be shown to executives at Yomiuri Television. The public first saw this pilot film sixteen years later, when it was included in the "Uchuu Senkan Yamato" LD Box Set. Subsequent releases on DVD and Blu-ray also included the pilot film. However, these later releases are missing certain sounds and audio elements. This is due to a copyright issue that arose between the LD release and the later DVD/BD releases.
