Episode Context

Coming off the construction of Toriko's candy house, episode 42 kicks off the Gourmet King Deciding Battle Arc as a filler detour roughly a third of the way through the series' 147-episode run. It introduces the Seven-Color Nessie quest that carries into the next episode, deepening the trio's teamwork outside of canon material. Skippable for plot purists, but it bridges the gap before the series returns to adapted content.
