Touka's scenes with her friend's food and the toilet scene broke my heart !! Although she's always shown as put together and having everything figured out, watching her struggle was really sad and reminded me of how ghouls other than Kaneki may suffer the same issues as him.

Wow, I really didn't know what to expect when it came to Tsukiyama, but definitely not that. The whole arena battle concept and how many participants there were makes me wonder what other kinds of communities are fostered between Ghouls? So much to know about this world.

Tsukiyama's appearance in this episode felt off from the beginning, his character was so suspicious for some reason. Despite that, Kaneki being tricked by him was rooted in his curiosity surrounding Rize and the little information he's given by those around him.

S1 EP4. I like the idea of creating mystery in the anime. This episode shows that Rize-san was a not just a ghoul who died and Kaneki is not just a human who got ghoul, there sure is more to it.

One more character got introduced- Tsukiyama. He is weird and kind of obsessed with Kaneki's scent. While Touka struggles to eat the home made food offered by her best friend(she's a ghoul maannn!! 😑). That ending was a total trap! Kaneki is way too naive, but his potential power is starting to show.

Rainy nights in Tokyo Ghoul? Mood setter 10/10. Water reflections and wet streets animation was gorgeous. Felt lonely and eerie af. Made Kaneki’s inner chaos hit 10× harder, no cap.

This episode hurt. The internal conflict is louder than the fights. Watching him fight himself mentally is honestly more intense than any battle. The emotional weight is building fast 😭

Things got so out of hand, so fast. With the introduction of yet another character, Tsukiyama, the ghoul world continues to grow. Now highlighting another aspect of ghoul society, one that Tsukiyama is actively present in, and of course, poor Kaneki has to deal with a bunch of it

Just as our boy gets his apron tied, a high-society creep with a purple suit giving real Hisoka vibes walks in. He offers Kaneki a taste of the elite life, but the guest list for this dinner party is strictly predatory. Our boy is about to find out he's not a guest

Kaneki who's new to the Ghoul world seemed to be swayed easily by other ghouls who have ill intensions to him. This episode explains more about their existence. This had me facepalmed when Kaneki gets involved in a danger because of how he easily believes other ghouls.

Another slow one tbh. Kaneki training with Yomo was cool seeing him learn to fight. Tsukiyama introduced and dude is weird and that obsession with Kaneki's scent is creepy. Pacing dragged a bit but setting up pieces. Animation during the training bits was smooth tho.

the direction made a very deliberate choice here and it pays off completely. what could've been a cool power moment is instead framed as pure loss from start to finish. also i held my breath for hide's entire scene and i will not apologize for caring that much.

Shuu Tsukiyama is peak "love to hate" energy. His obsession with Kaneki’s scent is unsettlingly well-animated. This episode leans into the high-society "predator" aspect of the ghoul world, and the contrast with Anteiku’s peace is jarring.

More action in this ep. And what a twist! All in a single ep

EPISODE CONTEXT

Sitting at the one-third mark of a twelve-episode season, 'Supper' functions as a critical worldbuilding bridge — Episode 3 pushed Kaneki into reluctant acceptance of his ghoul life and introduced the threat of investigators, and now Episode 4 expands the playing field by bringing dangerous new players into his orbit. The alliances and tensions seeded here directly fuel the escalating conflicts that will define the season's back half.
