EPISODE REVIEWS

Kaneki's decision at the end was so unexpected! What happened to him :(( hope they explain in detail later cause even though they made him act very different around Touka beforehand, there was little to no build-up and we barely saw his thought process/POV.

Episode Context

As episode 1 of 12, 'New Surge' is the direct continuation of Tokyo Ghoul's first season finale, immediately addressing the fallout of Kaneki's transformation and the new allegiances it forces. This premiere establishes the central conflicts, character dynamics, and escalated stakes that will drive the entire √A season. Everything introduced here, the shifting loyalties, the intensified CCG offensive, the fracturing relationships, serves as the foundation for the episodes ahead.
