Yan Cheng was not a character I was hype about, but credit is given to a hype cinenmatic moment and he certainly gives it. His moment of heroism is delivered well even if interpersonal problem is pretty basic

Introduction of a hero with an interesting plot and background, the story feels very realistic and also sad, and in my opinion a bit relatable as a “man problem.” The background music is good and wraps everything nicely. Craving for more episode!1!1!

We get to see Yang Cheng's origin and it's so raw. I love the director's approach with the cinematography. Seeing Yang Cheng's POV really makes you relate to him, like you're in his shoes. Emotional pacing is perfect here.

There’s a lot of storytelling in this one, but I’m not complaining at all! I loved how they introduced the other heroes. The plot is great and you can already see Yang Cheng starting to grow. It’s getting good!

This episode begins the Esoul arc, and with it comes a superhero origin story,a classic zero-to-hero tale. It's a very good introduction and a strong beginning to the arc.

Yeah, this one hits different, a real hero origin that feels so grounded and natural. Love how it builds from his struggles to that one moment of belief. Great emotional hook and action that actually means something. Great episode overall, a nice origin episode for new arc.

Going from that ending straight into what made E-Soul like this? Truly genius. Li Haolin is an amazing creator. Oh, and the emotional impact of that first scene? Seeing what he lost, then how it affected him? Seeing the seeds of who he became planted? Wonderful. 10/10. No notes.

Feels like the series just hit a reset and introduces us to an almost brande new set of characters and casts. Yet they keep the show extremely engaging.

EPISODE CONTEXT

Coming off the pivotal intensity of Episode 4, 'The Commoner,' which marked a turning point for Lin Ling's arc as Nice, Episode 5 deliberately pivots perspective to introduce Yang Cheng and launch what appears to be the E-Soul arc — a new thematic thread running through this first quarter of the 24-episode season. This episode lays essential groundwork for Episode 6, 'Two E-Souls,' where the complexities seeded here around identity and trust values are expected to escalate significantly.
