The contrast between the formal shogunate swordsmen and Takato's wild, untamed mutsu style makes every single clash inside the castle courtyard feel electric. Incredible martial arts showcase.
I expected this episode to be filled with exciting battles based on the momentum of the previous cliffhanger, but as the story progressed, I felt somewhat let down because the fight scenes relied more on dialogue and became surprisingly brisk. Despite the slow runtime pacing, the narrative itself grows more and more compelling.
The first phase of the Shogun tournament features different pairs of fighters battling with wooden swords, demonstrating their skill and techniques. After this round, those who advance to the next round are chosen. We see many different techniques from that era and various schools. It's a very entertaining episode to watch, fast-paced, and canon within the story.
