We finally get the tea on Barnaby’s past, and it is tragic. The contrast between his cool exterior and the trauma he’s carrying makes him so much more interesting. Seeing Kotetsu actually try to understand him instead of just being annoying shows how much they're growing.
The drama's amping up! Barnaby’s emotional baggage has him pushing everyone away even more than usual. Some of this ep’s interactions are intentionally awkward and funny, which offsets the serious action later on. That one enigmatic lunatic guy is such a wild card. What's up with him?
