Synopsis
Souichi Tatsumi is a loud, aggressive, self-declared homophobe who genuinely believes gay men should be erased from the planet, but and he's exactly who his university underclassman Tetsuhiro Morinaga has set his heart on. Tetsuhiro is gay. He knows this about Souichi. He's in love with him anyway. That's already a lot to sit with before anything even happens. This 2-episode OVA based on the manga follows what happens when an accidental run-in with an aphrodisiac forces a very unwanted physical encounter between the two. From there, the dynamic between them, already a mess, gets considerably more complicated. The show leans hard into comedy, and Souichi's unhinged personality carries a lot of that weight. He's genuinely ridiculous in a way that makes him oddly watchable despite being, on paper, kind of awful. It's a strange mix of genuinely funny moments and heavier undertones about unrequited love and confronting your own contradictions. The relationship is messy and uncomfortable in ways the show doesn't entirely smooth over, which gives it a bit more texture than your average Boys Love title. If you've watched Junjou Romantica or Sekaiichi Hatsukoi and want something with a sharper comedic edge and a more abrasive central dynamic, this fits that space. Fans of Dakaretai Otoko 1-i ni Odosarete Imasu will also recognize the push-pull tension here. Just go in knowing it's two episodes, it doesn't resolve everything, and the source material goes much deeper.

adachigahara_ace_11★★★★☆EP 1That ending feels like a total cliffhanger and it is obvious they just want you to go buy the manga but the tension between the lab assistant and his senpai is so thick
taiju_tenacity_158★★★☆☆EP 1I know this came out years ago, but the aphrodisiac plot point feels like such a dated trope and it makes the whole encounter feel wrong. Morinaga is usually so sweet, so seeing him flip like that was jarring. Souichi is usually terrible too with his constant shouting and homophobia so it is just two messy people being toxic together
ningyo_nemesis_48★★★☆☆EP 1Watching Morinaga ignore every boundary because of some mystery potion is a huge red flag and you can't even feel bad for Souichi because he says the most hateful stuff about gay people
filo_feather_150★★★☆☆EP 1The animation for this old OVA is actually decent and Souichi is definitely a tyrant but seeing him get flustered after being such a jerk all the time was interesting at least
eudial★★☆☆☆EP 1I really wanted to like Morinaga but that drink scene was hard to watch and he basically threw away any moral high ground just to get with a guy who hates his guts
kunzite★★★☆☆EP 1Morinaga finally snapping and taking what he wanted from his homophobic senpai was a huge moment but it definitely leaves a sour taste because of the drugs
sailor_pluto★★★☆☆EP 1The way this episode treats consent is basically non existent and it ruins the comedy when Tatsumi is literally begging him to stop during the encounter
white_324★★★☆☆EP 1Tatsumi being so aggressive and loud makes it a shock when he finally breaks down, even if the circumstances with the aphrodisiac are completely messed up, and wrong
genos_guardian_118★★★★☆EP 1I think Morinaga lost his mind the second he saw Tatsumi in that state and part of me was horrified while the other part couldn't stop watching the train wreck
tsubaki★★☆☆☆EP 1Watching this in 2024 is a strange experience because the way Morinaga takes advantage of the drug situation is extremely hard to ignore and it makes the romance feel non existent and Tatsumi being a massive homophobe just adds another layer of mess to the whole dynamic so it feels more like a horror story than a love story right now
raijin_rider★☆☆☆☆EP 1Everything about the consent in this episode is a disaster and it makes it hard to root for anyone even if the drama is high
umizato_unicorn★★★☆☆EP 1Tatsumi is such a nightmare person with the way he talks about gay people and seeing Morinaga still pine for him is painful to watch after that hotel room scene
