While the pacing starts slow, it rewards patience with deep thematic exploration and excellent character development across an ensemble cast.

This current episode is a bit slow burn, but it's enjoyable while learning about the mystery lore. The dark, intense, and unnerving mood is still present in this series, and you're eager to understand the dark mystery of Hikaru. The latter part is JUMP SCARED SATISFACTORY. 😱

The middle section had a lot of lore-heavy discussion, which was interesting but a little slow. The rest of the episode does keep you on your toes. That ending was intense, and the twist was exciting! Also, Tanaka and Yoshiki's interaction was great 🐹✨

The dinner scene felt like a psychological rollercoaster; the fact that it all takes place in a domestic setting makes the terror feel more pervasive. Hikaru's mother's involvement gave me a sense of tragedy and unease; undoubtedly, adding that "family" touch makes you empathize.

The show starts opening things up here, but it doesn’t rush it. You get more context about what’s going on, but it still keeps that sense of uncertainty. It’s a good balance between giving answers and keeping things tense.

Definitely watch episode 8, the pacing is really picking up and Yoshiki's investigation into Hikaru's past is getting interesting. I love how the dialogue reveals more about Hikaru's memories of Nonuki-sama. The tone is also getting darker, which I'm enjoying.

EPISODE CONTEXT

Following Episode 7's pivotal moment where Yoshiki commits to uncovering the truth about 'Hikaru,' Episode 8 delivers on that resolve by escalating both the supernatural threats and the investigative momentum. Sitting at the two-thirds mark of a 12-episode run, this is a clear transition from mystery setup to active confrontation with the forces at play. It directly feeds into Episode 9, 'Old Man Takeda,' where the threads pulled here — particularly around 'Nonuki-sama' and 'Kegare' — continue to unravel.
