It took me two tries to finish the first ep. I stopped halfway through because of the slow pacing. But decided to try again & push thorugh, and the ending really got me hooked. So there's that. Plus, the animation is beautiful!

Tau apa yang bikin ini creepy? Kalau backgroundnya gloomy dan mendung, pasti ini otomatis diterima sebagai cerita horor. Tapi, musim panas membawa warna yang cerah. Jadi meskipun temanya lebih ke horor dan thriller, tapi bungkusannya seperti drama persahabatan biasa.
Seperti halnya si Hikaru ini.
Aku nonton dengan tanpa ekspektasi dan riset apapun. Lumayan tergugah untuk tahu apa yang sebenarnya terjadi.
Perasaan tidak nyaman mau dibawa anime ini pudar dengan warna terang latarnya. Kayaknya memang itu niatnya.

In this episode, the narrative and atmosphere feel heavy. The sound design complements the characters, making the summer heat truly suffocating. The characters' voices create a sense that something is missing. A great start; captivating and unsettling from the start.

The pilot episode and the introduction are so great! The backstory, the lore, and the foreshadowing of our MC are building up for the next episode! Our MC's mystery backstory is quite intriguing, but I love how his character is written! 😍

I absolutely love how they began this anime. It's not too slow, and it introduces a variety of intriguing scenes, visuals, and dialogue. Each character is so unique in their own way. What happened to Hikaru makes me SO curious to know more about what is going on in this town!

We follow Yoshiki Tsujinaka noticing something’s off with his best friend Hikaru Indo after he returns. The unease builds through their conversations alone. Yoshiki’s reaction is the real hook—grief + denial already kicking in.

An exciting watch in Rural Dread. The 1st episode is a jarring "emotional rollercoaster" that perfectly balances the nostalgia of Japanese village life with visceral, supernatural, mysterious and unsettling horror. A recommended Horror gem a bit of BL.

I love how it has a twist of slice of life and sheer body horror. The lack of world building pulls you in to get more answers!

The first episode only shows that the whole series is full of mysteries! From the very first scene, you can feel the thrill with the heavy rain, the gloominess of the village, and the eerie cry of the summer cicadas; many events happened in just one episode!

The best moment is when Yoshiki ask Hikaru "You're not Hikaru, aren't you?" I CRY IN THAT PART

Hikaru's intro is wild, the village life and supernatural vibes are so intriguing. The twist on slice of life is really drawing me in. Definitely give it a shot, it's got a unique feel to it

I’m not always a horror fan but this one drew me in from the get go. I was initially surprised the revelation about Hikaru was shown so early but I didn’t mind it. It made me wonder where it would go next throughout the season!

The animation is just *chef's kiss*, it's like the animators are flexing in every shot. It's that good. My only complain is how spoilery this 1st ep is. We already see Hikaru's last moment, find out there's a village lore and folks related to it, and that creepy map.

An absolutely amazing opening to a must-watch series. The art direction is gorgeous and the horror is portrayed in such a fascinating way. The use of imagery and symbolism is beautiful and even more so prevalent in later episodes.

This chapter is so powerful and shocking! The discovery that Hikaru is a bizarre creature who loves being human makes it almost impossible not to fall in love right from the start. The anime is unique, bizarre, but without senseless violence, and it is completely psychological.

One intense episode

The intro makes sure to entice you to watch what happens next. Great opening!
