Solid episode with a lot more action. The pacing of this anime is a bit slow at times but the animation and characters evens it out a bit. Hopefully the pacing can pick up more and more in the coming episodes.

In this episode, we finally get to see the villains. They're fairly typical as far as villains go, but the bond between them serves as a nice contrast to Togo and his ideals. The scene where Togo punches the Jester was especially satisfying. We also get some more lore about the Hero, which, while not particularly surprising, was still a welcome addition. Overall, it was a good episode.

Episode Context

Sitting at the near-exact midpoint of this 12-episode run, Episode 5 capitalizes on the team cohesion established in Episode 4 by throwing a major escalation at the group, the direct involvement of the Demon Queen's offspring in the conflict. This is the clear pivot from setup to rising action, transitioning the season from world-building and party formation into the larger threat that will likely drive the back half. Everything that follows should build on the revelations and confrontations introduced here.
