The Heike Story
Oshimeter
Synopsis
The Taira clan, also known as the Heike, holds immense authority over Japan. When a young girl, gifted with an odd eye that allows her to see the future, foolishly disrespects the clan, her father pays the price of her crime with his life. Soon after, as fate would have it, Taira no Shigemori—the eldest son of the clan leader—stumbles upon the same unfortunate girl, who now calls herself "Biwa." Biwa informs him that the downfall of the Heike is imminent. After learning of the great injustice Biwa suffered at the Heike's hands, Shigemori vows to take her in and care for her rather than let her be killed. In an era of rising military tension, the Heike are in the midst of a cunning struggle for power, and bloodstained war is on the horizon. Shigemori, whose eyes allow him to see spirits of the dead, is both anxious and hopeful to prevent his clan's demise. Biwa, however, is reluctant to reveal the future to him and must adapt to her new life filled with both happiness and sorrow in this pivotal chapter in Japanese history.

Such a great final episode and such a great anime overall! The story comes to and end in such a tragic yet beautiful way with stunning visuals and great lessons. Highly recommend!
This episode feels very hopeless about Heike's fate, but it feels like that fate is accepted, making this episode feel kinda peaceful.
This episode was absolutely insane and the best one in the entire show. The storytelling here is so good and emotional that I couldn't believe my eyes. The visuals are also so breathtaking and the whole episode feels so well crafted that every scene is great and important
Again, a prety great episode with a lot of great scenes. Biwa´s story is the most intriguing to me and Heike's clan fall hits hard.
My favourite character in this episode was Tokuko. The animation was amazing as always and some scenes were quite emotional. I felt bad for Biwa in this episode but I think she'll be fine
Pretty good episode. The story keeps showing how the Heike are slowly going to get destroyed and that decline is very intriguing to watch. The animation looks stunning as always and it's probably my favourite aspect of the whole show
The amount of characters in this story is kinda crazy and that's very evident in this episode. The names are very similar as well which is quite confusing but I think this type of historical story works well like this
Really emotional episode that highlights how the Heike clan is close to falling apart. I'm curious to see how Biwa's power will affect the story
The perfect anime ending for me! There are some great quotes to apply to everyday life. All existence is impermanent; All that grows must fall; Those who are fearless will meet their end. I was truly captivated by these sentences at the end of this episode. This anime really teaches a lot about life. I am grateful to have had the opportunity to watch this anime.
I was saddened to see the Heike increasingly cornered by Genji. Many of Shigemori's descendants had died. Meanwhile, Biwa finally returned to the Heike and decided to observe until the end. I admire Biwa's character, who finally embraced and used her special abilities wisely, because her denial phase must eventually end.
Well, this episode was cruel to me. Maybe it was historically accurate, but it still baffled me to witness such choices and reactions. This is the end, and it’s not what I imagined, it’s far more devastating. Nonetheless, I really enjoyed the animation, soundtrack, and story. It was definitely worth the time.
I think it is appropriate to state my opinion about Sukemori since I've grown a particularly annoyed with him, especially in this episode. He like to criticize his brothers for being afraid except that he only did the talking, not once have I seen him do anything useful to help the Taira. That aside, I empathize with those like Koremori, this episode made me appreciate him more.
Not much happened in this episode but I still really enjoyed it. The politics are getting better explained and the story seems to be more intense than I expected
The backgrounds in this anime are so pretty. More characters are introduced but I'm still confused by their names because they're very similar.
Great first episode Already love the visual style and the character design. Loved both the opening and the ending as well and can't wait to see the rest of the story unfold
Just as I expected, what I wanted to see has finally been revealed. The animation in this episode was great, and the pace picked up as we heading toward the end of the story. Some of the scenes got me emotional, this is one of my favorite episodes of the anime.
Well, if it’s inevitable, then I think I’d like to see what remains of the Heike members and whether or not Biwa will meet her mother in the end. Things are going to get intense as we move toward the final episodes. I also spotted a reference to another famous Japanese animated masterpiece, which was absolutely refreshing haha.
In this episode, Tokuko's character development and determination really shine, I truly admired her for it. Compared to many men in positions of authority, I must say she has even more dignity and strength than they do. A lot happened in this episode, and I’m excited to see the story progress.
Up to this point, I’ve never seen a monk who is truly just a monk. From my observation, it seems more like a way to manipulate politics and people indirectly. I’m getting impatient to see Biwa truly use her power and make an impact. Whatever the cause or consequences may be, I’m looking forward to seeing what her ability can bring when she uses it intentionally.
It was only in this episode that my eyes were glued to the screen. There were many deaths on the Heike side, especially the deaths of key characters. Although the one-on-one fights weren't depicted at a fast pace, they still provided their own tension. It was nice to know that Biwa finally found what she could do for Heike. Perfect score for this episode.
