Episode Context

The Castle of Wax arc shifts into high gear with its second installment, and the atmosphere turns genuinely unsettling. Kindaichi and Miyuki are locked inside Balt Castle alongside a group of competitors, and the staged 'Mystery Night' event starts bleeding into something far more sinister. The discovery of wax figures modeled after each guest is a classic Kindaichi setup, creepy, deliberate, and loaded with implications. Expect thick suspense and an increasingly claustrophobic tone as characters begin questioning what's real and what's part of the game. Kengo Akechi's presence adds a sharp intellectual counterweight to Kindaichi's instincts, and the interplay between contestants keeps the tension human rather than purely atmospheric. Pacing is tight and urgent, leaving little room to breathe. This is the dread-building middle chapter before the real chaos begins.
