This was a nice opener that carries on the momentum from the last season. This was a slower, more dialogue heavy episode though and it spent its time on emotional fallouts rather than throwing villains right from the get go. I like the mix of seriousness and comedy here, so don't go around expecting that this was a purely serious episode.

Episode 1 is a fantastic start to Season 3, It immediately addresses the huge question left over from the end of Season 2 what happens when the familiar bond is broken Saito is no longer bound to Louise, which shakes the foundation of their whole dynamic. The show is also expanding its scope by introducing a new Void mage and a more focused threat.
