Synopsis
Destruction doesn't choose Maya. it simply follows her, consuming everything in her path: men lose their minds, women are driven to ruin by jealousy, and chaos trails her wherever she goes. That's the premise of this 1994 OVA from Horannabi, five episodes, five different versions of Maya, five completely different worlds. Each one is a standalone story, so the show never gets locked into a single setting. The first episode drops you into a dystopian future built around a towering brothel, where a mercenary named Chaos and a soldier named Halda get pulled into Maya's orbit as various factions try to exploit or destroy her. It's bleak and intense from the start. Don't expect typical hentai formula here. the storytelling leans harder into horror and dark fantasy than most entries in the genre, and the anthology format keeps things from getting repetitive. The tone sits somewhere between La Blue Girl and Demon Beast Invasion, but with more of an emphasis on atmosphere and character dynamics than either of those. If Bible Black's gothic, doom-soaked energy ever appealed to you, this hits a similar note. It's not for everyone: the darkness is genuine, not just window dressing, but if you're looking for something that actually tries to build a world and a mood rather than just going through the motions, this is worth the five-episode runtime.
