EPISODE REVIEWS

This episode introduces us to a few new characters and a larger setting than the premiere. While the humor remains, this episode takes a more serious tone by outlining a wider issue facing many workers in the real world. We also get a greater glimpse into Kinji's amazing ability to manipulate and use people to further himself. To that end, this episode appears to kick-off the larger plot for the rest of the season.

The absurdity of Kinji starting a workers’ union while disguised as an ant perfectly captures this anime’s energy. Beneath the comedy, there’s surprisingly sharp satire about exploitation and survival.

I love how Kinji uses his corporate greed to fight the system. Seeing him struggle in the mines makes me laugh because his ego is just massive.
