This anime certainly was a surprise. Seeing someone like Kyotaro try to talk to someone like Anna was very wholesome and funny. The animation was a cute style and the music was very comforting and upbeat. This was a great introduction to see a shy guy try to open up more.

Kyotaro really thinks he’s the protagonist of a psychological thriller. Its a quite different concept for romcom. Lets see what it unwraps.

I had few doubts to continue or not considering this seems to be dark thriller but its has comedy and talks about social anxiety. The middle school series has some awkardness which we saw in this one as well. So far it is more wholesome than how the title sounds.

It begins with dark and tense. The characters feel genuine, and their interactions make it feel fresh and fun to watch.

Kyoutarou Ichikawa is introduced as a middle schooler with dark fantasies about classmates. He notices Anna Yamada, the popular class idol, and becomes secretly intrigued by her. Their first interactions mix awkward curiosity with hints of budding connection.

You desire a "pure" romance that makes you smile and addresses the awkwardness of puberty with a sincere heart, suitable for Seniors High School

Episode 1 shows a heartwarming interaction between Ichikawa and Yamada. The Inner Dialogue of Ichikawa greatly increase the sweetness of conversation between Him and Yamada. The animation quality is also great and is consistent throughout the entire episode.

Honestly, this episode was kind of rough to get through. Ichikawa’s inner monologue was a lot, almost edgy in a cringey way, but I could tell there was something quietly interesting brewing under the awkwardness.

EPISODE CONTEXT

As episode one of twelve, this is pure foundation—establishing Kyotaro and Anna's personalities, their initial misconceptions about each other, and the school setting that will serve as the backdrop for everything to come. No prior context needed; this is your entry point. The interactions and misunderstandings seeded here become the throughline for the entire season's slow-burn romantic development.
