The Case Book of Arne Episode 12: All's Well That Ends Well

The episode opens with Rin leading her motley, purple-armored zombie army through a dimly lit, ornate castle. They move with chaotic purpose, a strange parade of the undead. The air is thick with tension as these unlikely companions press deeper into the vampire lord's domain. It is a bold, almost comical, entrance, yet full of determination.

Outside, the grand, mist-shrouded castle looms under a full moon, a classic gothic setting. Inside, the nun sits bored on a throne, surrounded by the clumsy antics of more zombies, a stark contrast to the battle raging around her. Suddenly, Rin discovers Arune, unconscious and ethereal, reviving her with concern. Arune vaguely recalls a sinister figure and a bleeding painting, then quickly saves Rin from an attacking zombie, her usual flair returning.

Growing exasperated by the endless zombie horde, the nun finally decides to act. With a determined expression, she clenches her fist, summoning a giant fist made of her own zombies. She unleashes a powerful punch, creating a massive explosion that clears the path. The sheer destructive power is immense, leaving her visibly drained.

Arune, now fully alert, explains the disturbing memory of a sinister man and a painting that seemed to bleed. The image of the malevolent figure flickers over Rin's worried face, emphasizing the unseen threat. Rin and Arune steel their resolve, understanding that this is no ordinary rescue mission.

With a dramatic burst, the team breaches the final doors, revealing a long, dark hallway leading to a throne room. There sits Vlad, a pale-skinned vampire with long white hair, emanating a sinister presence. This is the corrupted Arune. He offers a condescending welcome, his eyes glowing with ill intent.

Rin proudly declares her role as Arune's assistant, prompting Vlad to threaten them. The echo Arune steps forward defiantly, promising an elegant victory. The Zombie King launches a powerful punch, which 'Vlad' easily blocks. The echo Arune attempts a sneak attack, while Rin desperately tries to climb thorny rose vines, determined to reach him.

Arune (as Vlad) effortlessly repels both the echo Arune and the nun, sending them flying with dark magic. They lie defeated and bruised, powerless against his might. Rin watches in despair as she, too, falls from the treacherous vines, terrified and isolated. The battle seems unwinnable.

Rin screams as she plunges downwards, but the Zombie King and his remaining minions position themselves beneath her. They break her fall, their bodies shattering into dust upon impact. Rin is left crying amidst the sparkling remnants of her loyal protectors, overwhelmed by their sacrifice.

Arune (as Vlad) confronts Rin, scoffing at her lost companions. He ensnares her with glowing red threads, making her his puppet. He forces her into an eerie dance, whispering that she is already his. Rin's face shows confusion and sorrow as her body moves against her will, trapped in this macabre spectacle.

Even while controlled, Rin defiantly confesses she feels her body moving on its own, but then looks up, her eyes wide with unwavering conviction. She vehemently defends Arune, stating he respects her as Rin Lyne Byse, not merely as a human or vampire. She proclaims her pride in her own value, rejecting 'Vlad's' cynical view.

Despite her defiance, Arune (as Vlad) transforms into a monstrous, fanged form, intending to terrorize Rin. However, the illusion flickers. Suddenly, a playful Arune (his true self briefly asserting) appears, guiding Rin to a coffin. Rin believes she is rescuing Arune, but upon opening the coffin, the still-enraged, corrupted Arune (as Vlad) awakens, questioning her actions.

Freed from the coffin, but still under the spell, the enraged Arune (as Vlad) lashes out at Rin, accusing her of betrayal. He unleashes a massive wave of red energy, destroying the room around them. He sends Rin flying, then crushes her with an energy hand, leaving her unconscious and defeated. His cruelty knows no bounds.

The nun, wounded but defiant, tries to protect Rin, only to be disintegrated by Arune (as Vlad)'s magic. He then cruelly crushes the essence of the Zombie King, destroying any last hope of outside intervention. Rin slowly regains consciousness, seeing her allies gone, feeling the weight of profound loss and despair.

Rin, battered and bloodied, defiantly demands Arune's heart. She dodges a hail of energy spears, then, with raw determination, punches a giant blood-red hand, shattering it. Her single blow sends the corrupted Arune (as Vlad) flying, defeating the spell. Rin extends her hand to the painting of Arune's heart, restoring him to his true self. Reunited, Arune, Rin, the nun, and the Zombie King celebrate, ready for new adventures.
