Such a satisfying and fun episode, my goat MaoMao proved who the real girl boss is! I love the drama at the start, the moment they kicked her out, the anger comes rushing in, that shows that they’re building hatred towards the characters. I love how MaoMao has the power to basically summon a bath, but for good reasons of course. Now I’m sure her reputation will be known to many others, also that SLAP was clean and crisp. Also, the extra information that she gave at the end was wild!

After Maomao's good work of course she'd be sent in for a job like this! I really didn't like how Lady Lihua's staff treated her and undermined her, but the end was a satisfactory comeback for sure! And really took them off their high horse.

The slap + powder demonstration combo is pure intimidation education. This episode reinforces that obstructing Maomao is basically self-inflicted disaster HAHA. Maomao casually giving Lihua advice that belongs in a completely different genre of drama which made everything work

A direct order from the Emperor, something that Maomao could never possibly even think of declining puts her under the Crystal Pavilion with only one goal, cure Concubine Lihua. But being just an apothecary, can Maomao even do something that the Rear Palace doctor couldn’t do?

Now that's a new side of Maomao! So far, I always see her as the most nonchalant person ever, but it's not the case when medical and health stuff is involved. I'm getting more and more interested in her character.

Maomao is asked to help treat Lady Lihua, one of the emperor’s concubines. She prepares special food, but the ladies-in-waiting block her efforts. While observing carefully, Maomao discovers that a face powder being used on Lihua may be harmful and causing her condition.

I love the detailed narration of the episode like Lihua's treatment and the punishments of the servants. The animation was fluid but the graphics dropped. Still a must watch because of the scene where Maomao finally snapped and the whole buildup before that specific scene.

This is the strongest episode so far. Maomao is put into a tight spot by the emperor and ends up showing more of both her skill and her character. What stands out is how clearly she understands the limits of her own freedom to act, yet manages to carry out the emperor's request.

There’s more emotion here, and it gives Maomao a softer side without changing who she is. Jinshi also feels a bit more layered. It’s a nice mix of logic and feeling, which makes the story more meaningful.

This episode wastes no time, showing the dynamic changes between Maomao and the other characters. It's nice to see Maomao get scary and take charge, showing how capable she is. I'm not sure why, but the animation in this episode looks even more fluid than in the previous ones.

The last scene is funny even without explaining what happened, you’ll laugh at the characters reactions and it really makes you think. The female lead’s nonchalant expression is hilarious. Her efforts for others, even when she’s struggling, make this episode really touching.

I really love how the series continues to build its world without making it feel heavy. Maomao being unapologetically herself will never get enough screen time for me. Her reactions, her thoughts, the way she handles things—it all feels so natural and oddly entertaining. The interactions this episode feel more relaxed, but still meaningful. It’s like even the quieter moments have purpose. This show really knows how to make “nothing much happening” feel like everything is happening.

If all physicians are as patient as Maomao many would love doctors. hehe
I like how her personality flipped from patient to authoritative knowing the mistake of the lady in waiting. Ohhh and I like how Lady Lihua visited her in while sleeping in her room it's so warm and genuine.

With Lady Lihua's condition getting worse, Maomao has been assigned to care for her but these ladies-in-waiting just won't take a hint. It's so pleasing to see them be put into place. And the transformation of Lady Lihua and the reason for her sickness breaks my heart, her poor son.

This episode is about healing of cocubine Lihua. We got to see the angry side of Maomao. It was scary but justified anger. Jinshi don't miss the chance to take limelight though having small part in this episode. Seeing Lihua back to normal was such a good news! 🙌

Maomao assigned to care for Lady Lihua and her ladies-in-waiting are being absolutely insufferable about it. tbh the slap scene was not on my bingo card but Maomao said what she said. love that she does not budge regardless of who's in the room

You know that feeling when you see someone who is clearly in the wrong but absolutely refuses to admit it because of pride or social environment? That, is basically the whole episode because those maids insist on following tradition to a T when the clear priority is health.

This episode has shown the other side of Maomao, her fierce side, emotions are very powerful and slowly shifted from a random order to a more serious case of negligence inside the palace. Her character is also developing from childish to more mature actions and deductions of ideas

EPISODE CONTEXT

Episode 4 follows Maomao's growing reputation after resolving the spirit incident in Episode 3, escalating her involvement in palace affairs from curious outsider to someone operating under direct imperial authority. This marks a pivotal shift in the first quarter of the 24-episode season, transitioning from establishing Maomao's competence to testing her resilience against institutional resistance. It directly sets the stage for Episode 5's 'Covert Operations,' signaling that the court intrigue is about to deepen significantly.
