The finale stands out for its restraint. Instead of rushing, it focuses on small, deliberate actions to create a sense of closure. The pacing allows everything to settle naturally, keeping the tone reflective while still feeling like a complete ending.

All's well that ends well, at least for most of the characters. Their experiences collectively allowed them to develop more as individuals. If somehow we get a continuation to the story, we may see more of that. Otherwise, it's a really good show, highly recommend for anime fans.

I can tell you this, got bored of the first half of the season. Second half was good! The darker it got, it became interesting. Conclusion of this season was peaceful, sad, happy and etc. Mixed emotions to be exact.

Nice and calm ending after all that 😭 Maomao and Jinshi feel closer now. It wraps things in a soft way. Makes you excited for what’s next. Can't wait for the next season!!

Emotional roller coaster at its finest! I just wonder where Loulan will be up to next?

The slow burn of romance is CHEF KISS. It truly emphasis Maomao’s personality (since she doesn’t care about anything but medicine) and I love how Jinshi is being more like his age around Maomao, like he finally find a place to relax from all his worries and pressure.

The Protagonist, Mao mao is such an amaziing MC. She and Jinshi are the heart of this anime. Its such an interesting show showcasing hers view of the world and how the plot progress with her

the way maomao completely lost her mind over that giant gallstone was the best thing ever and it shows she has not changed at all even after everything that happened at the fort

maomao doing that dance on the wall was actually breathtaking and the animation for her sleeves looked so good in the moonlight

My brain actually stopped working when Jinshi leaned his head on her shoulder and I was just yelling at them to finally kiss because they were so close

I couldn't help but laugh watching Maomao absolutely lose it over that ox gallstone, totally blowing off Jinshi just to geek out over a rare medicine ingredient. It's so classic Maomao, honestly; her passion for unusual compounds always seems to make her completely forget everything else, and I felt a little bad for Jinshi trying to get her attention.

It was such a relief to see Jinshi finally drop the act and be genuinely himself; I almost did a double-take at his unguarded intensity during that dance. You can tell he's just so exhausted from maintaining that perfect eunuch facade, and honestly, it makes me think about how much internal struggle he must be hiding.

I loved seeing Maomao pick that rock over Jinshi in the post-credits, it just felt so right for her. It makes me think that even after all the crazy stuff they've been through, their hilarious back-and-forth will never change, and honestly, I wouldn't have it any other way.

When Maomao noticed that blue rosebud, my thoughts immediately went to how much she's changed. I feel like she's finally letting some genuine emotion through, maybe even a little bit of softness, instead of just being all about the mysteries. It makes me hopeful that she's allowing herself to grow in a really personal way.

I was so relieved to hear the Shi clan kids actually made it because Loulan used that medicine on them; it totally changed how I felt about her sacrifice, making it less tragic than I first thought, almost like she planned it all along.

My eyes totally welled up when Xiaolan started bawling and clinging to Maomao, truly catching me off guard. For a second, I really worried Maomao might pull away, but instead, she just accepted the hug, making me realize how deeply she's finally letting herself belong in the Jade Pavilion.

The music really shifted during that wall dance, and I immediately felt the whole atmosphere just drop, like the lingering weight of the rebellion was finally, truly over. It was a moment of quiet finality for me, almost a collective sigh of relief for the court.

EPISODE CONTEXT

Positioned as the final episode following the high-stakes Shi Clan conflict in Episode 23, this finale pivots from intensity to resolution, processing the consequences of the season's major arcs. It serves a dual purpose — providing emotional closure for Season 2's storylines while explicitly laying groundwork for the confirmed third season. For viewers invested in Maomao and Jinshi's dynamic, this is the payoff episode for threads woven across all 24 episodes.
