The mystery becomes more layered as earlier clues begin to connect. The document review scene highlights Maomao’s methodical approach, and the pacing feels tight without sacrificing clarity.

I was expecting another mystery-solving episode, but it suddenly turned into a horror story telling.. haha! The shift was unexpected, but it was still really entertaining. I even laughed at the characters’ reactions, so it stayed very engaging!

As much as you want to believe it, this is not a filler episode, as there are hints about several characters not being the people they are supposed to be. As for the subject material itself, it was actually well done, quite effective and creative even. It was very intriguing.

Adding a spooky and creepy vibe in a comedy episode is a smart move! At this point of the series, it's kind of getting boring so making it a little spooky added some spice to the episode which made it a little more interesting to watch!

Spooky vibes but also smart 🤯 Maomao and Yinghua moments are fun. I like how it tricks you at first. Then it turns into something more serious! Sus with how Shisui knows all the thing.

Reminds me of typical ghost stories with your friends. If you are into Maomao's wits in action better skip this episode. Not much of an action and eventful scenarios.

This episode could be a crucial element in the overall storyline, as it reveals many hidden spoilers about who is who and how things unfold within the kingdom. The story is simultaneusly mystical yet logical at the same time.

You could really feel the sadness when the son confessed and it made the whole mystery feel so much heavier than just a simple inheritance dispute

The way that official died from eating too much salt was actually terrifying and it shows you how scary people can be when they use biology to get revenge

People calling this filler clearly missed how the ghost story stuff is connecting back to the late emperor and it made the whole atmosphere feel much darker than usual

Jinshi looked so defeated on the balcony because Maomao only cared about the pawn shop value of his gift and her lack of romance is always so funny to watch

Maomao finally getting her own shed for experiments is a major win for her, although it was funny to see her get dragged out like a stubborn pet by Honnyou

Those three new maids are way too similar and you have to wonder if they are going to be important for the political stuff later because they seem perfectly timed

Maomao's perspective on the brothers' twisted past, especially seeing their father make them drink, really made me understand just how deeply that messed them up. It's truly disturbing to think that kind of trauma shaped their entire lives.

I thought the tone shift towards horror was actually a good change and it was weird seeing Maomao actually confused by a ghost story for once instead of debunking it

That breakdown from the eldest son after mentioning his brother made me feel terrible for him, even if he did commit a crime it felt like he was just protecting his family from that monster

I felt so smart watching Maomao explain osmotic pressure to solve a murder and it was so cool to see her scientific side beat a perfect crime but then the ending with the hairpin had me laughing because she just wanted to sell it for herb money and Jinshi is just struggling so much to get her attention in that moonlit scene

I totally cracked up when Maomao just wouldn't leave that dusty shed, she’s seriously so dedicated to her weird experiments that she'll just plant herself wherever her chemicals are, which honestly, I kinda admire.

I was totally unsettled by that ghost story scene; it really amplified how creepy and dark the late emperor's past actually was, making me wonder just how much deeper those court secrets go.

I totally agree with Maomao's instincts here; Shisui's storytelling felt almost too perfect, and the way Maomao recognized something about her face made me instantly wonder about her true role. I'm pretty sure she's not just some ordinary lady-in-waiting, maybe even connected to a past mystery or someone high up in the palace.

EPISODE CONTEXT

Sitting at the season's midpoint after heavy revelations about the late emperor in Episode 9, this installment functions as a deliberate thematic interlude—trading political conspiracy for cultural immersion and palace superstition. It deepens the viewer's understanding of the inner court's atmosphere and its inhabitants' belief systems. The episode directly sets the stage for Episode 11, 'The Hunt,' by grounding the audience in the palace's folklore before the narrative accelerates again.
