I’m not sure how the Lightspeed Hero will play out, but he’s definitely an interesting character. Still, it feels like this storyline was just inserted into the arc and might not be that necessary.

I don’t know if Masayuki is lucky or not, lol. He’s basically giving “Chosen One” vibes like Harry Potter 🤣 His backstory was hilarious, and I’m curious to see how he’ll interact with Rimuru.

If plot armor were an ability, it would definitely be the Lightspeed Hero's, lol. This feels like a side plot for now, though. I just hope we get back to the festival soon.

Episode Context

Coming off Episode 16's diplomatic progress with the Tengu mutual defense pact, Episode 17 shifts gears entirely by introducing Masayuki and the tensions his reputation and ambitions could create for Rimuru's growing nation. Positioned at episode 17 of 24, this is a clear pivot point, the season is transitioning from alliance consolidation into whatever challenges the upcoming festival arc will bring. Masayuki's arrival plants the narrative threads that the back third of the season will likely pull on.
