Teppen—!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Laughing 'til You Cry
Oshimeter
Synopsis
The Teppen Grand Prix is a competition established out of an appreciation for stand-up comedy. As devoted fans of such performances, Yayoi Sakamoto and her two friends—Yomogi Takahashi and Yuzu Hosono—form the stand-up trio Young Wai-Wai. After qualifying for the final round in the prix, the three go up against other comedic trios, but only one group can emerge victorious. With participants housed in a famous dorm where many comedians before them have lodged, the contestants' time living at the establishment will give them a chance to prove they have what it takes to make their audience laugh until they cry!

I really love the emotions that I have felt this episode. I am so proud of Young Wai-Wai here. The animation here really gives the three main girls their most expressive moments yet. Honestly for me, I didn't care anymore about the Grand Prix itself, I just genuinely wish for all the girls to have fun here and do their best. I am so proud for everything they have been through and it made me feel warm with the image of everyone from Takako-so coming together.
This was a really intense episode and I feel like this is one of the best eps in this entire season. I like how they showed the relationships they have built up between all the 15 girls by bringing every one of them into the same final challenge at once. The final challenge here seemed simple at first glance but I felt like they deliberately targeted our character's impulse to perform.
This was such a warm and clever episode, I like the comedic and emotional scenes here, they made me smile and made my day. It was nice seeing the birthday here have some tension building up naturally across the episode and when it finally built itself it gave the whole thing a satisfying shape.
I didn't like how this episode stepped away from the large group comedy to focus on their minor characters. This was rather a boring episode for me but I can see that they are trying to develop the two girls and establish their relationship with one another.
I like the direction of this episode and how they used a documentary crew to follow the girls around in this episode and turned this into a whole comedy show rehearsal. The pacing is excellent here, it knows when to let the chaos build and when to hold back. I also like how this ep is very lively and expressive, I can really feel that they put more effort into the performance scenes here.
I am definitely sure that no comedy/slice of life anime is complete without a camping episode lol. I like the twist though about the person who ordered the training and the person running it, it was so funny watching them banter with each other. This episode is really complete with the typical camping trope, we even had a hot spring scene here lol.
This was an unexpected shift in tone but I do appreciate that the show finally becomes serious with its characters, it gave the girls here a different kind of challenge and put a small but genuine spotlight on Yuzu. There are still some comedic scenes here and there but I really like they they used the change in daily routine as a trigger for Yuzu's situation, which is something I find very relatable when my pattern or rhythm is broken.
This was a really interesting episode ngl, also the way they used the bus journey as the setting for the comedy that turns into something stranger was smart and unexpected. The three Shinryakusha members' very different personalities bounce off each other in here. For me, this is honestly a very nerdy episode with the urban legend discussions and all that but their conversations were really ridiculous, its like watching conspiracy theorists talking with each other lol.
This was such a fun episode that mixes absurdity with some small mystery. The pacing was evenly split between the silly news articles flooding the dorm and the quieter PC scene in the dining hall. The animation in the dining hall gave Yuzu and Mako's interaction a close and more attentive look. The writing here also has a good sense of timing when it comes to those ridiculous article headlines. This was such a chaotic and strange watch lol.
It was nice that they also started to focus on the other trios instead of our main group. They really make use of the wide cast and the comedy here feels varied. The quiz show scene here is actually a good concept that really makes the most of a parody angle. The animation here looks a bit different from our dormitory based episodes but nevertheless it was still easy to watch.
It was so fun watching our characters here be put under pressure, especially when they were trying to figure things out was so funny and engaging. The animation here really shows the comedic aspect of this show through body language and reactions. I also discovered that this episode was delayed a bit because of a certain situation and that was actually quite an interesting coincidence given the plot of this ep.
There were quite a lot of characters introduced here while also setting up the rules of this show's world, even though there were a lot of characters it does a good job of making the important character stick. The art style here was colorful and expressive that matches the comedy of this show.
Well, it's a "kind of everything works out in the end" type of episode. I didn't really like this anime because the sheer amount of nonsensical things happening was too much, and there were so many unrelated episodes that when they tried to tie everything together for the finale, I personally didn't feel any emotion or connection with the characters. It's a shame because the first few episodes actually made me laugh, but then it went downhill. At least it helped me learn a bit about manzai .
Las chicas pagan las consecuencias de haber destruido el hostal, y si bien el documental pudo mostrar otro lado de sus personalidades, no pasó a ser un dato más. La obra para mi no tubo ningun sentido. 🌸
Well, we're getting closer to the end, and I have to say that the girls barely make me laugh, if at all. Honestly, I find Seiji to be the funniest character because he literally pushes the girls to their limits. But I still insist that the way the story is structured takes away many funny moments; it feels like just a compilation of random situations without a connecting thread that the viewer can follow. At least that's my personal opinion.
