This ep gives us a taste of what we'd be in for the rest of the series. It showed, though just a tiny bit, how manipulative Masaki could be. On the other hand, there was also the matter of how some bonds are fragile in the face of life and death.
If you are unsure whether to continue this show, this episode screams "keep watching". Just when the story seems safe, you're reminded there's still so much left unknown. I counted two different plot twists and need to know how they play out.
This wasn't a usual investigation episode. It gave us friendship moments, betrayal, and trust. The vibe shifted from light to dark by the end of the episode, and we got to see the dark secret revealed. The pace was slow, but the tension was carefully built up to give us that dark secret ending!
