Tales of Zestiria the X Episode 12: The Lord of Calamity

Ending yang bagus untuk season pertama nya, dilengkapi dengan konklusi konflik dan cuplikan tentang perjalanan Sorey kedepannya. Sesuai judul episode nya disini semacam bos terakhirnya diperlihatkan dan sebagai penonton bisa merasakan kalau saat ini Sorey gapunya kesempatan untuk menang. Kemudian kita juga diperlihatkan kalau ternyata Sorey punya kekuatan untuk menjalin kontrak dengan sesama manusia, itu bener-bener unik karena ga disangka kalau bisa. Overall plot yang bagus dan persiapan untuk season kedua nya.

As the title of the episode says, it's the appearance of the big boss and also a reappearance of a certain character in ep 0. There wasn't much of a big fight and it looks like the Lord of Calamity is just testing the capabilities of Sorey. I was just wondering: if a person says that making a pact would put a big burden on Sorey, shouldn’t there be signs of him being exhausted afterward? It feels like the studio is glossing over this with the great animation during the pact scene, since Sorey doesn’t even look tired afterward 🤔. Anyway, that’s the only inconsistency I’ve observed in this episode. This is a great end for the cour and another new beginning for Sorey and Alisha, there are still some question left unanswered but let's just save it for the second cour.

This was filled with a lot of tension. We finally get to see the main threat I've been waiting for the entire time - and he's as imposing as I expected. I love how this episode really highlights the depths of Sorey's learning throughout the journey, as well as what he must realize in order to not fail as a Shepherd. It definitely promises a second part too - so I'm already looking forward to (re)watching it soon!
