📖 SYNOPSIS
Before the car accident, Tamahiko Shima had everything — wealth, a mother, a functioning right arm — but the crash stripped him of all that matters, and any reason his family might keep him around. His father ships him off to a remote villa in the mountains of Chiba with one clear message: you're worthless, go away. Tamahiko accepts this, settling into a quiet routine of reading books and waiting to die. Then a girl named Yuzuki shows up at his door, bright-eyed and relentlessly kind, claiming she's been sent to be his future wife. This is a 12-episode TV series set in 1920s Japan, and the Taishō era setting isn't just window dressing — it shapes everything from the family dynamics to why a girl can be "purchased" as a bride. The show doesn't shy away from how messed up that arrangement is, but it also lets Yuzuki be her own person rather than just a victim of circumstance. What makes it work is the slow, genuine warmth between these two. Tamahiko's walls come down bit by bit, not through dramatic speeches but through shared meals and small gestures. The tone is gentle, romantic, sometimes funny, and quietly emotional in a way that sneaks up on you. If you liked Kimi ni Todoke or Say I Love You but want something with a historical twist and a slightly heavier emotional foundation, this one's worth your time. My Little Monster fans might also vibe with the opposites-attract dynamic here.
