Episode 3 comes with some time off from the previous incident from the last episode, giving our girls some time off to be themselves and be just students. While the school life is not the focus of the show, it is good to see some down time in the school, even with a full on school festival to boot, but unfortunately, as said school is not the focus of Symphogear and the fighting must go on.

the Nephilim eating Hibiki's arm at the end of this episode is one of the most genuinely shocking cliffhangers in the whole franchise. the build to it is well constructed — Hibiki fighting the Nephilim with the show making it feel controllable before pulling the rug out completely — and the visual of her arm just being gone is deliberately disturbing in a way Symphogear doesn't always go for. the episode also does good work developing Nastassja's position as the adult figure behind Maria's group — she's clearly not simply a villain, she genuinely believes in what she's trying to do, and her relationship with the girls has real maternal weight to it. excellent episode that earns its brutal ending.

It had a nice seamless recap transition, and I love the opening sequence it's hard to skip. I like the art style it doesn't have the early 2000s look to it, it very a unique style all to its own, it's sleek and well proportioned especially the eyes which are pretty big and very expressive, a unique art style that was emerging in the 2010s. From the way Chris was portrayed down to her design accentuating her cool factor I thought she was the main character, I mean she is the red ranger in this series. She's even popular among here peers.
