This alcoholism plot is sending me. I do think that this plot connects to alcoholism in men and how violence can be the result. My own theory is that the drink taste better to those whom are inclined to violence.

Episode Context

Sitting at the exact halfway mark of the 24-episode run, Episode 12 concludes the two-part 'Drunken Dreams of Lingering Snow' arc that began in Episode 11, deepening the threat posed by Yuki-no-Nagori after her initial introduction. It functions as a pivotal transition point, escalating the stakes in Edo and positioning Jinya for the challenges that will define the season's back half. The groundwork laid here, unresolved mysteries, mounting tension, and an expanding cast of threats, signals that the series is shifting into a more complex and consequential phase.
