Overall, still a good episode.

Episode Context

Yamato 2199 hits its midpoint with a cerebral, tension-driven episode that swaps explosive fleet battles for something far more unnerving: an enemy you can't see. The pacing is deliberately slow-burn, ratcheting up dread as the crew confronts a threat that defies conventional tactics. This is a strategy episode through and through, Kodai, Niimi, and Sanada each carry significant weight here, forced into high-stakes decisions where hesitation could be fatal. The atmosphere leans into submarine-warfare territory, claustrophobic and psychologically charged, testing the crew's composure as much as their combat readiness. If you've been watching for the action spectacle, this one asks you to sit with the silence between strikes. It rewards patience with genuine suspense and strong character work under pressure.
