SPY x FAMILY Season 2
Oshimeter
Synopsis
Picture a spy, an assassin, and a telepath walking into a family, and none of them know about each other. That's the Forgers in a nutshell. Loid is an elite spy who needs a fake family for a mission. Yor is a deadly assassin who needs a husband to avoid suspicion. Anya is a six-year-old orphan who can read minds and is the only one who knows everyone's secrets. She's also having the time of her life. Season 2 picks up right where things left off, with the Forgers juggling their double lives while accidentally becoming a genuinely loving family. Loid keeps pushing Operation Strix forward, Yor gets pulled deeper into her assassin work, and Anya continues being the chaotic glue holding everything together, along with Bond, their precognitive dog, because why not. The comedy hits harder this time around, but what keeps you watching are the quiet moments where these people who are all lying to each other still manage to care in ways that feel real. Wit Studio and CloverWorks handle the animation together, and the action sequences look as sharp as you'd expect from that combo. It's 12 episodes, so it doesn't overstay its welcome. If you enjoyed the found-family energy of Hinamatsuri or Buddy Daddies, this scratches a similar itch but with higher stakes and more espionage. The Yakuza's Guide to Babysitting fans will feel right at home too.

Yor‘s Fight was absolute cinema. And my favourite episodes were with Damian. Good Season.
Great anime, I like it
A hilarious and action-packed season opener. Yor takes down thugs with her usual deadly efficiency but ends up shot in the buttocks, then hilariously tries hiding it from Loid during their date. Perfect balance of action and comedy. The Forger family charm is fully intact."
Anya's special weapon...
This episode gives Yor more depth and makes her role feel more important. It balances action, tension, and family charm well. It also starts to show a more serious side of the story without losing its usual appeal.
The tonal shift in this episode is top-tier. Yor being pushed to her absolute limits against those hitmen felt so visceral and real. I loved how it balanced that intensity with the classic, awkward father-daughter comedy between Loid and Anya. A total emotional roller coaster!
Those two short stories were so heartwarming. Seeing Loid and Bond team up to defeat the villains and save dinner was great, and I loved seeing Damian and his friends just being kids for once. Still, it’s heartbreaking to see how hard Damian pushes himself to be the best.
Here we get a closer look at the daily life of one of the main characters and a supporting character; although this episode is far from being one of the best, as it lacks a deep plot or any impact on the main storyline. Even so, it’s usually very entertaining and fun to watch.
One of my favourite episodes
I Love it!!!😆
This episode really shows why Yor is so terrifying as the “Thorn Princess.” The action scenes are intense, and seeing her switch between calm family member and deadly assassin is honestly so cool!!
I loved the contrast in this episode—Loid and Anya enjoying the cruise like it’s a vacation while Yor is quietly preparing for something serious. The tension slowly building had me hooked!! <3
Starting the season with Anya chaos is honestly the best way to go 😭. The situation escalates so fast, but Anya being Anya makes everything both stressful and hilarious at the same time.
Anya rewards Loid and Bond with origami Stella Stars and the season ends on a wholesome note, proving that even telepathic dogs and spies can find belonging. I love this kind of found family/real family type of stories.
The episode is a humorous showcase of Loid’s obliviousness to his admirers and provides character growth for Becky and Fiona, balancing slapstick with subtle commentary on strength and dedication. It's a bit bittersweet, but it works.
This gentle episode offers a breather after the cruise‑ship arc, mixing vacation fun with a moral about honesty. I like these filler episodes, we don't get them anymore in regular tv shows and the viewer's concentration suffers because of it.
After an emotional farewell to the Gretchers, Matthew tells Yor to relax and enjoy her vacation with her family. The arc concludes with a cathartic mix of explosive action and sincere gratitude, highlighting the Forgers’ teamwork even while concealing their identities.
The juxtaposition of brutal combat and familial nostalgia underscores the series’ ability to oscillate between intense action and heartfelt sentiment. While the story is moving along nicely, this episode suffers from bad characterization.
This entry skilfully blends introspection with action; Yor’s internal conflict humanizes her while the looming threat keeps the stakes high. The pacing is a little all over the place in this one, though.
