The contrast between Inako's spiritual side and Kihachi's focus on machines really got to me, especially when she thought the recorder was a literal god speaking to her. The scene with the Phantom Lantern was actually beautiful and it made me realize how much they both lost their mothers. That ending with the villain grabbing Kihachi was totally unexpected though
