EPISODE REVIEWS

Episode Context

As the first of thirteen episodes, this entry carries the full weight of establishment: Kihachi, Inako, the imposing Yosuke Mitsue, and the significance of the 20th Century Electricity Catalog are all introduced here for the first time. There is nothing preceding it to draw on, so the episode functions as the series' complete foundation. It passes the story directly into Episode 2, 'The Mysteries of the Catalog,' where the questions and tensions seeded here are expected to begin taking shape.
