i was actually surprisingly happy to see excalibur show up this time. with how tense everything else has been, we really needed a moment of pure comedic relief. getting to learn more about black star's dad was nice too.

the narrative decision to parallel black star's current struggle against mifune with his father's history is conceptually sound, but the execution is tedious. the inherent predictability of the outcome strips the fight of any real tension.

literally everyone in this episode is acting so obnoxious, black star looks completely helpless going up against mifune right now, but we all know he is somehow going to pull off a win in the end
