This episode definitely shifts the anime more toward romance territory, but thankfully it still keeps the grounded emotional tone instead of becoming melodramatic.

Episode Context

Landing at the season's midpoint, Episode 10 pivots from the relaxed multi-day camping trip of Episode 9 into more emotionally substantial territory by introducing someone from Gen's past. This marks a turning point for the series' character development, laying essential groundwork for Episode 11, 'Goodbye, Gen-kun,' which promises to dig even deeper into Gen's personal history and its consequences. For the broader 24-episode run, this is where Futari Solo Camp signals it has more on its mind than just outdoor cooking and campsite charm.
