Episode Context

Coming off Shohoku's hard-fought qualification for the National Championship in Episode 85, this filler episode pauses the main team's momentum to explore the fallout at Ryonan, fleshing out rivals who have been central antagonists throughout the series. At episode 86 of 101, the series is deep into its final stretch, and this detour establishes leadership shifts and emotional stakes that enrich the competitive landscape heading into the national tournament arc.
