Really nice premiere. The pacing is slow in a good way, and the dialogue makes you pay attention to every little detail. Looking forward to seeing how the new mystery unfolds.

I read another review that said you needed to watch season 1 to understand season 2, or else the story wouldn't make sense. I have only watch 2 episode from season 1.In the first episode of season 2, they introduced a new character that didn't exist in season 1. So I'm left confused in the middle of an ongoing plot, Osanai is dating someone else and Kobato is nowhere to be seen yet. But the relationship between Osanai and the new boyfriend feels completely different from the dynamic between Osanai and Kobato. This is all to say, watch season 1, and don't be like me, lol.But the new plot feels really good, it ended on such a cliffhanger that makes me press the next button without realizing it. Such an intriguing anime that you can't watch while being distracted.

Episode Context

Season two opens with the quiet confidence fans expect from Shoshimin. The premiere reintroduces the series' signature blend of introspective character work and understated mystery, centering on Kimiya Itsukaichi as he crosses paths with Yuki Osanai and finds himself drawn toward a string of suspicious fires spreading through the city. Don't expect explosive reveals here, the pacing is deliberately measured, prioritizing the careful observation of interpersonal dynamics and the slow accumulation of unease beneath mundane surfaces. The tone sits in that distinctive space between cozy slice-of-life and genuine tension, where ordinary conversations carry hidden weight. This is a scene-setting episode through and through, rewarding patient viewers who appreciate atmosphere over action. If season one's contemplative mystery storytelling worked for you, this premiere signals more of that refined approach.
