The melodrama is definitely turned up to an eleven here, especially with the deep emotional baggage tied directly to Coach Kamiya, but the underlying narrative purpose works quite well. By contrasting the Kakegawa players' current timid style with a much rougher, more aggressive approach, the episode effectively pushes characters like Hideto and the rest of the squad to realize they cannot afford to stay comfortable.
A wild pretty boy appears! I'm confident grabbing someone is illegal in soccer. So, what do you think would have happened if he caught him (automatic foul)? Andrea lit the fire in our boys, and rekindled the fire in Head Coach Kamiya. It's not a bad episode by any stretch of the word, however these emotional outbursts should be kept in check. If it happens in nearly every episode it loses what make it special. Now the story was insightful, it adds to the world building and lore of the story, it's sad but has silver lining to it, however, it is needlessly emotional no need to emasculate them by having them bawling in public in front of strangers.
Not much going on in this episode. It had the calm before the storm vibe seeing how chill the pace was. It did have some important element like the backstory of the coach, though I wished there were more punched into it.
