EPISODE CONTEXT

Coming off the disturbing Cyberia nightclub events of episode 2, 'Psyche' marks the point where Lain stops being a passive observer and starts reaching into the Wired with intent — a critical shift for the entire series. This is early-arc groundwork, establishing the philosophical and technological foundations that episodes 4 ('Religion') and beyond will interrogate more aggressively. At episode 3 of 13, the show is still building its unsettling vocabulary, but the escalation from here is relentless.
