EPISODE REVIEWS

Episode Context

Pure Engagement kicks off with a season premiere that prioritizes reorientation over revolution. Minato and his growing roster of Sekirei are back, and the episode wastes little time reestablishing the group dynamics, the comedic harem tension, the genuine affection, and the undercurrent of a battle royale that's about to get significantly more dangerous. Expect the signature Sekirei blend: ecchi comedy beats sitting alongside moments that hint at real emotional stakes, particularly around loyalty and the Ashikabi-Sekirei bond. The pacing is deliberate rather than explosive, functioning as a launchpad that catches you up on where things stand while layering in an ominous tone that justifies the title. If you're returning from season one, this is the deep breath before the plunge. New viewers should start with the first season.
