Sekirei: Pure Engagement
Oshimeter
Synopsis
After flunking the college entrance exam twice, Minato Sahashi stumbles into being an Ashikabi — basically a human who can power up super-powered beings called Sekirei through, well, kissing them. By the time Pure Engagement picks up, he's already bonded with a handful of Sekirei (Musubi, a cheerful brawler; Tsukiumi, a water-wielding tsundere who insists she's his "wife"; and Matsu, the resident hacker pervert), and they're all living under one roof in the kind of chaotic domestic situation you'd expect. The catch this season is that Shintou Teito — their entire city — gets locked down. Nobody leaves. The MBI Corporation's battle royale enters its second stage, the rules shift, and suddenly the stakes feel heavier. Some Ashikabi would rather drop out entirely than watch their Sekirei get hurt, which adds a surprisingly genuine emotional layer beneath all the fanservice and comedy. Studio Seven Arcs keeps the fight choreography fluid and the power system — where each Sekirei's strength depends on their emotional bond with their Ashikabi — gives the battles more weight than just trading energy blasts. It's a 13-episode seinen TV series from 2010 that knows exactly what it is: part harem comedy, part supernatural tournament arc, with enough heart to keep you invested between the action setpieces. If you liked the over-the-top combat vibes of Ikkitousen: Great Guardians or the harem-meets-battle-royale energy of Killing Bites, this fits right in that lane.
