EPISODE CONTEXT
As the first of only two episodes, this installment carries all the heavy lifting of world and character setup. Nothing precedes it, and virtually everything it introduces—Shuntarou's strained home life, his unfulfilled longing, and the mysterious video game—feeds directly into Episode 2, where the premise's full implications play out. This episode is the foundation; the second is the payoff.
