A build up episode for the last episode. I really like that we get to meet another fresh face, something that I think this series need. But to see her so late is making me raised a eyebrow on where does this series wanted to end its first season. Beside that, I really like the moments shared between Monica and "Ike", it feels like Monica opening up a little and letting her guard down, which is endearing, in a way. At the end of the day, I'm curious on what the next episode would have.

This didn't have much going on besides expanding some mysteries. I love the delinquent behaviour that Monica and Felix are pulling. Of course a man will cause trouble!

Expected another fight like last week, but it was actually a pretty light episode. The pacing is quiet and steady. The writing relied on great dialogue.

Two new characters have been introduced in this episode and one of them is a fellow seven sage. If one didn't read the original source they would think that this episode is just a festival celebration and a bit of a side job for Monica as a member of the seven sage but there's actually quite a lot of foreshadowing in this episode.

I really love main character's growth when it comes to interaction with other people and it shows in this episode. I mean, she's come a long way! The dynamic between the sages is also worth watching, makes me keep wondering how Monica acts with the other sages. I'm soooo curious!

EPISODE CONTEXT

Coming off the chess competition arc in Episode 11, 'My Friend,' the series pivots from competitive tension to lighthearted character exploration as it approaches the finish line. This penultimate episode deliberately introduces new relationship dynamics and personal challenges for Monica, laying essential groundwork for the season finale, 'A Book's Worth.' It functions as a narrative bridge—deepening connections with Mary Harvey and Prince Felix before whatever resolution Episode 13 delivers.
