Sera's Sacrifice and Regeneration
The episode opens with a brutal flashback, a grand hall reduced to a blood-soaked battlefield. Sera lies severely wounded, her left eye a gaping, bleeding mess, yet she pushes through the pain, clutching her shield. Despite her injuries, she declares her resolve to pursue the enemy, her one good eye glowing with a cross-shaped pupil, a clear sign of power. Hashiba, distraught, tries to restrain her, knowing the futility of her efforts, but her shield shatters as a demon attacks. Her eye then begins a gruesome transformation, glowing with purple and pink energy, eventually regenerating into a vibrant blue with a white cross pupil, a miraculous and terrifying sight that leaves Hashiba stunned.
Bar Talk and Sera's Lineage
After the unsettling flashback, Hashiba is seen in a bar with the Master, engaging in a casual card game that belies a tense conversation. Hashiba presses for information about the elusive Levi and then about Sera's father. He questions how Sera could have regenerated her eye, linking it to the powers of the 'E4.' The Master, holding his cards close, gives noncommittal answers, fueling Hashiba's suspicions.
The Master's Daughter Revealed
Hashiba slams his cards, his frustration boiling over. He directly accuses the Master of hiding the truth, asserting that Sera is the Master's daughter. He reiterates the miracle of Sera's regenerated eye, a power he now firmly believes is linked to her lineage, not merely a 'chosen hero's miracle.' The Master remains impassive, refusing to confirm or deny the accusation, his silence speaking volumes about the hidden truths surrounding Sera's origins.
Joe's Interruption and Hokkaido Deduction
Joe, a bald man with sunglasses and a perpetually smug demeanor, strolls into the bar, casually interrupting the conversation. He orders food and drink, then immediately turns his attention to Hashiba, mocking his card-playing skills. Joe boasts of his own recent exploits against 'minor demon lords' and, to Hashiba's surprise, accurately deduces that Hashiba is planning a trip to Hokkaido. Meanwhile, Indi reflects internally on her fierce loyalty, reluctant to delve into her master's shadowy past, a past she feels no need to expose.
The Weight of Heroism
The conversation briefly shifts to the missing Maruta, another member of their unusual crew, presumed to be off on a 'good part-time job.' Hashiba dismisses Joe's concerns, believing Maruta can handle himself. Hashiba then turns to the Master, questioning the true nature of Sera's father, whom he once considered a simple fool. The Master offers a philosophical take, acknowledging Sera's father as the strongest hero he knew, who died for a trivial reason, but likely without regret, having achieved his purpose. Hashiba, despite his cynical views on 'scum heroes,' admits he admired heroes as a child, still holding onto a flicker of that idealism.
Indi's Ravenous Appetite and Hashiba's Interrogation
Indi appears, ravenously devouring a ridiculous amount of food, much to Hashiba's disbelief. Once fed, the atmosphere shifts abruptly. Hashiba turns serious, his sharp questions cutting through the lingering humor. He quickly deduces Indi's military background, her training with knives, and her origin from the 'Northern Black Territory.' Indi, outwardly unfazed, confirms his observations.
A Childhood of War: The Black Territory
A map of Hokkaido illustrates the chilling reality of the 'Black Territory,' where demon lords have carved out independent 'nations,' existing beyond the reach of the Japanese government. It is in this harsh, war-torn land that Indi grew up, adopted by 'Hero Mercenaries' who took in war orphans. She recounts a childhood structured around communal living, eating meals together, and relentless training, including knife combat and patrols through snowy, isolated landscapes. It was a normal upbringing for her, a life of constant vigilance and preparation for conflict.
Encounter with the Nephilim
Hashiba connects Indi's past to the 'Nephilim,' the monstrous creatures they encountered in the earlier flashback. Indi confirms that they sometimes encountered these terrifying beings during their patrols in the Northern Black Territory. She describes their immense power and the realization that these monsters moved in groups. A harrowing flashback shows her camp under siege by a horde of glowing-eyed demons, a truly terrifying invasion.
Indi's Helplessness and Harugo's Sacrifice
As the flashback continues, young Indi is shown frozen in fear, unable to move as a demon lunges. Tears stream down her face; she could not fight. Just as the blow lands, Harugo heroically intervenes, deflecting the attack, his sacrifice leaving a bloody splatter on Indi's shocked face. She confesses her helplessness, her tears now flowing freely, admitting she was too weak to fight. She clutches a small knife, heartbroken by her past inability to protect others.
Hokkaido Bound: A Shared Resolve
Hashiba sternly tells Indi not to cry, then offers her a surprising path forward. He promises to make her strong, revealing his plan to journey to Hokkaido to find the creators of the 'Nephilim.' Indi's initial surprise quickly morphs into steely determination, accepting his offer to help. The scene ends on a comical note, with Sera and Seira misinterpreting the 'special training' and enthusiastically dragging a reluctant Hashiba away for their own rigorous regimen.
EPISODE REVIEWS

Jogamine really said “I’m fine” after THAT injury like girl be serious 😭 Indo out here going full menace mode too. This episode basically confirmed nobody in this show is normal and I kinda love that chaos.

Not gonna lie, this felt more like a setup episode than anything big. Indo’s backstory was solid, but the pacing slowed down a lot. The Jogamine hints are interesting though

Indo’s backstory was brutal and honestly made her way more interesting. And Jogamine?? That healing scene was creepy in the best way. Something is seriously off with her. This show keeps getting darker and I’m hooked
