Scum of the Brave

Synopsis
Tokyo in the 2050s is a filthy neon sprawl where crime bosses called Demon Lords have superpowers from ether enhancement surgery, and the government's answer is to legalize bounty hunters called Heroes who juice themselves on a drug called E3 to keep up. It's less "save the world" and more "get paid, don't die." Yashiro, a.k.a. the Reaper, is a veteran Hero who'd rather eat pizza, drink beer, and play cards than deal with anyone else's problems. That changes when Aki Jogamine, a high school kid with more guts than sense, forces her way into his life demanding to be his apprentice. Yashiro reluctantly agrees, for a hefty fee, and takes on Aki and two other recruits, dragging himself back into the messy power struggles between Heroes, Demon Lords, and Tokyo's sprawling criminal organizations. The 24-episode TV series from OLM has this grimy near-future setting where morality is basically a suggestion, and the power system built around ether enhancement and E3 dependency gives the fights real stakes beyond just who hits harder. Yashiro's the kind of mentor who clearly cares but would never admit it, and watching him navigate that while training kids in a profession built on killing is where the tension lives. If you liked the dystopian cynicism of Psycho-Pass, the criminal underworld energy of Black Lagoon, or the morally gray superpowered loners of Darker than Black, this one's in that lane.

Fake heroes got exposed, Yashiro stood on business, and somehow the show still found time for bar shenanigans. Great way to end Season 1, I guess?
The ending leaves you with hope, but it's the bittersweet kind. The lies continue, yet the next generation might finally have a chance to do better.
The finale asks whether heroes are built on truth or lies, and honestly... it leaves you thinking long after the episode ends
Sejujurnya, ending-nya terasa biasa saja.
I lost my mind when Yashiro just flipped Arthur the bird and walked out of that office like he owned the place after that massive half dragon reveal
The way Sera just accepted being a literal doll made of corpses was so wild and her transformation looked painful as hell though the animation was basically a slide show during the big fight
The pacing in this episode was so fast and now it looks like we are heading straight into a massive war for Tokyo plus that bit about the clergymen was funny
Arashi talked all that trash about justice and then got beat by a guy who just wanted pizza and dumplings and the way her pride shattered was so satisfying
That reveal about Sera being made from dead bodies was heavy and it explains why her ether powers are so unstable compared to the other students at the academy
My favorite moment was definitely the E3 speed burst because the animation got so sharp for those three seconds and Arashi didn't even know she was hit until he stopped moving
I actually gasped when Sera turned her arm into that dark claw thing because she usually seems so sweet and innocent and the way she chose her own identity despite being an E4 doll was beautiful and watching her and Akimine work together to push Arashi back towards the stairs felt like they finally started growing up
Yashiro admitted he only wants to see people fall into despair and that was such a dark moment for a hero but it fits his reaper name perfectly
Seeing the clockwork keys on the floating swords was such a cool detail, and it makes sense why Yashiro was just standing there staring at her for so long
Arthur being the head of Half Dragon was a total shock and Yashiro just flipping him off was the perfect way to end that meeting
Yashiro giving Arashi that list of chores at the end was so funny, because she was just lying there in a pool of blood and he asks for dumplings
I felt so bad for Sera when Arashi called her a doll made from corpses and her face just dropped but then she used that transformation and shredded those puppets
The villain reveal was so dramatic I half expected someone to yell "HE'S BEEN BEHIND IT ALL!" HAHA Yashiro doing the middle finger had me rolling
Lord Storm Coffin: "I have a perfect ability." Yashiro: "Cool. Here's why it doesn't work."Yashiro treats final bosses like homework assignments LOL
Arthur revelation was NOT on my bingo card. That twist actually got me.
