Fire rituals at the start really set a dark tone for the episode and I was so hyped for Rei to finally join the squad. Her design is easily my favorite so far, but her grandfather is way too much of a creep with the girls at the shrine. The way she handled the bus monster with Fire Soul was incredible

Okay, so I was genuinely freaked out by the ghost bus sucking all the energy out of those girls, that was some seriously dark stuff for Sailor Moon, but then Rei's grandfather just rolls in and makes everything super awkward and honestly kinda pervy. It's such a weird switch from spooky to cringey, but I guess I should just expect that kind of whiplash from this show, especially since Mars finally joined the team.

EPISODE CONTEXT
Sitting roughly one-fifth into the 46-episode first season, Episode 10 is the third and final major Sailor Guardian introduction in the early recruitment arc, following Mercury's debut in Episode 8. The Dark Kingdom threat has been steadily escalating through standalone encounters, and adding Mars significantly raises the team's combat capability heading into the mid-season conflicts. From here, the series transitions from building the core team to deepening their bonds and tackling more complex enemy schemes.
