i just noticed how a lot of their fights rely on them talking about their backgrounds, and as someone who loves diving into lore, i actually really appreciate that. it’s a nice break from purely action packed animes and i like how it gives more depth to every fight!

Episode Context

Sitting at the exact halfway mark of the 24-episode season, Episode 12 functions as the climactic showdown the Oniwaban arc has been escalating toward since Kenshin's encounters with Han'nya and Shikijo in the preceding episodes. This is the payoff fight. Kenshin versus the leader himself. The next episode, 'Battle's End,' signals the resolution of this storyline, making this the peak tension point before the season pivots toward whatever challenge awaits in its second half.
