A total tear-jerker episode. Kaoru and everyone in the dojo thought that the peaceful days will no longer be threatened not knowing what lies ahead of them. This episode ended a very dramatical parting ways as Kenshin starts to become a wanderer once more.

I love this episode very much. A beautiful and grasping episode. I could truly felt how exactly Kaoru's feeling is to Kenshin.

Episode Context

Sitting roughly one-third into the series, episode 31 marks a major narrative pivot, the looming threat of Shishio Makoto has been escalating across recent episodes, and this installment serves as the emotional bridge between the Kamiya Dojo era and the Kyoto Arc. It follows directly from the growing tension around Shishio's ambitions and sets the stage for Kenshin's journey into what many fans consider the show's defining arc. Everything that follows builds on the emotional stakes established here.
