Synopsis

One unremarkable morning, Ruri Aoki discovers horns growing out of her head. She shows her mom, expecting panic, and instead gets a casual 'oh yeah, your dad's a dragon.' That's basically the energy of this whole show. Ruri isn't chosen by destiny or thrust into some epic battle — she just has to figure out how to get through a normal school day when she might accidentally breathe fire on someone. The comedy comes from how mundane everything stays despite the premise. Her classmates react the way real teenagers would — some are fascinated, some are awkward about it, and Ruri herself is mostly just tired and trying not to make it a big deal. It's a slice-of-life show at heart, closer to the gentle pace of Flying Witch than anything action-oriented. If you liked Miss Kobayashi's Dragon Maid for its cozy dragon-meets-daily-life vibe but wanted something more grounded in a school setting, this hits that spot. There are also shades of The Devil is a Part-Timer in how it plays supernatural elements against totally ordinary situations. Kyoto Animation is handling production, so expect the kind of warm, detailed character animation they're known for — the small gestures, the lived-in backgrounds. The whole thing is wholesome without being saccharine, funny without trying too hard, and genuinely relaxing to watch. It's about a girl learning to accept the weird parts of herself, which honestly lands harder than it sounds.
